Job Overview

Diagnose malfunctions in refrigeration equipment.  Installs, repairs and maintains equipment, physical structures, plumbing, refrigeration and electrical systems, in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications.  This position will also be responsible for maintenance of the pneumatic, boiler, and wastewater system. 

Responsibilities


• Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering       specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Utilizes troubleshooting techniques.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by following inventory protocols for checking out supplies and parts.
• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Provides refrigeration maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Prepares refrigeration maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we need from you:

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school;
• OR six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ammonia Certifications (GCAP or RETA)
• Boiler certification highly desirable.

 

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

 

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high,     precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires that hearing protection be worn in production areas at all times.
• This position with work with ammonia and be exposed to ammonia fumes should an incident occur.
