Job Overview

The primary responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Supervisor are to provide leadership to Quality Assurance personnel and ensure compliance with Company food safety and quality standards for raw materials, processed products, and processing procedures are maintained under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight to Quality Assurance personnel including training, scheduling, attendance and guidance for continuous improvement.
  • Resolve conflicts involving technicians.
  • Perform technician duties, as required.
  • Plan, coordinate and provide corrective action follow-up for internal audits including GMP, foreign material (Glass, Brittle Plastic, Wood and Ceramic) and Food Defense.
  • Provide technical assistance to operations regarding process deviation reports and product specifications.
  • Retain product and investigate to determine disposition under the guidance of the Director of Quality Assurance.
  • Perform documentation review, HACCP verification activities (Pre-Shipment Review, Cook System Verifications, Direct Observations) and SSOP monitoring activities (pre-operational and operational) as necessary.
  • Assist in product traceability and mock recall exercises, 3rd party and customer audits.
  • Implement and maintain environmental monitoring programs including weekly and monthly microbiological testing is being performed to standard.
  • Communicate deficiencies and opportunities to Quality Assurance and Operations Management.
  • Oversee food safety and quality programs in absence of Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed 
  • Promotes, adheres, and is responsibel for Food Safety and Quality.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and a minimum of 1 -3 years related experience in a USDA manufacturing facility and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.), HACCP certification and process control training preferred.
  • Proven skills evaluating and implementing strategies that improve overall quality and profitability.
  • Experience in implementing and enforcing policies, programs and procedures.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and assignments.
  • Experience in managing employees and providing strong leadership and mentorship.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • An individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software such as Microsoft Word, Spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, and Database software such as Microsoft Access
