Job Overview

Provide technical direction, training, guidance and support to the FSQ Managers in the assigned facilities to ensure we have controls and procedures in place to ensure the manufacture of safe, quality products that meet customer, food regulatory and, CTI requirements. Provide support to the Director Food Regulatory Compliance and Systems and VP FSQ as needed. 

Responsibilities

  1. Champion and model the CTI culture and the necessary mindsets to deliver optimal results.
  2. Lead team by effectively utilizing CTI’s Operating Principles and Cultural Beliefs.
  3. Actively participate and engage with other facilities for best practice sharing and replication for areas such to drive 1 CTI Foods way, Continuous Improvement and Standardization
  4. Attract, hire and lead the FSQ management in assigned locations, ensuring that all team members are knowledgeable with operating processes and procedures.
  5. Food Safety and Quality system information management: Ensures team compiles, interprets, and communicates the conformance to standards for product components and finished products to all customers utilizing measurement metrics
  6. Ensures Intelex, Redzone and other methods of technology for tracking/trending are used accurately and appropriately.
  7. Provides strategic perspective for product and process quality through Food Safety systems, GFSI compliance, Sanitation/SSOP programs including Environmental monitoring.
  8. Supports the Company in managing emerging food safety, food fraud or quality risks.
  9. Assists and supports assigned plants’ LT through effective communication and active participation in projects, substituting for the FSQ Manager as needed.
  10. Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  11. Develop, implement, maintain or improve proactive quality and food safety systems, assessing risk to prevent failures and mitigate risk to the consumer and brand.
  12. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with customers to ensure food safety and quality standards are met for finished products and be able to influence as needed.
  13. Work with Regulatory Inspection personnel on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance to all regulatory requirements and actively engage in any CAPA required.
  14. Actively engage in the Supplier Approval/Review process to alleviate the document surges during high document turnover periods (e.g. last month/first month of the year).
  15. Provide internal audit service to ensure execution of HACCP/PC Plans and all other GFSI requirements.
  16. Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

What we need from you:

  • Minimum of 10 years of Food Safety/Quality management experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in in Food Science/Safety, Meat/Animal Science, or other related hard science.
  • HACCP and PCQI certified
  • Effective communicator, written and verbal, including the ability of being able to explain the technically complex to a non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrated track record of effective change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise appropriate judgment in decision making and problem solving.
  • Possesses a predictive/proactive mindset
  • Track record of strong performance as a senior manager with ability to hire, develop and lead a team to execute requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment and execution of continuous improvement project, ideally using Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma concepts.
  • Long term and short-term planning skills.
  • Budget development and presentation skills.
  • Deep knowledge of applicable (USDA/FDA) regulatory requirements to guide facilities in HACCP/PC plan development and execution, to head off non-compliance. Conversely, able to direct the plant in developing/executing the CAPA should there be a non-compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate confidently and effectively with customers regarding requirements, non-compliances.
