Job Overview

Manage and update, as required, the Food Safety and Quality Plans and Systems.   This includes the management of HACCP, SOP, SSOP, GFSI, RedZone, INTELEX, Macola, and WYSIS.  Train team members, as necessary, in these systems as the resident expert.  These systems are critical to regulatory compliance, customer complaints customer

compliance, quality trends, food safety and quality.

Responsibilities

Responsibilties 

 

Data Management:

  • Primarily responsible for the management of HACCP Plans applicable to the USDA and FDA product manufactured.
  • Maintenance and management of SOP’s, SSOP’s applicable to Food Safety and Quality.
  • Maintenance and management of Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) and British Royal Consortium (BRC) Global Standard Food Safety requirements, Pre-Requisite Programs, and the Food Safety Modernization Act requirements.
  • Maintenance and Management of data both input and received from RedZone, INTELEX, Macola, and WYSIS.
  • Maintenance and management of all data required from our customers, both internal and external, related to regulatory information, Certificates of Analysis, product releases, microbiological data, Redzone data, Intelex Data, and WYSIS data.
  • Interface with the local team to ensure that all FSQ data is current and complete, and that Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Quick Run Specs (QRS) are incompliance with Customer Product Specifications and handle customer requests for this data. Ensure that data meets requirements and execute corrective actions as needed.
  • Responsible for updating and loading customer KPIs into customer portals and proper communication at set defined frequencies.

Program Development:

  • Provide support for the development of QA programs and policies in compliance with BRC, FSMA, USDA and FDA.

Incident Support:

  • Provide support for investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action(s), and preventative action(s) analysis.

Product Releases:

  • Manage product hold/release. Interface with plant leadership to ensure that that all FSQ hold data is current and complete. Assign duties to technicians as needed.

Audit Support:

  • Provide support for audit-related documentation and queries as needed.

Training:

  • Train associates as needed to support data management tasks.

Other:

  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate years of experience in Food Science or related degree
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • Deep understanding USDA-FSIS and FDA regulations.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication/training skills.
  • HACCP and/or PCQI certified
  • Deep understanding of the GFSI standard

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of FSQ data flow and the food safety program data management requirements as they pertain to GFSI
  • Knowledge of necessary administrative duties to maintain and organize records, reports, or other information
  • Computer literate in Office programs
  • Self-Starter, able to work independently
  • Ability to exercise appropriate judgement in decision making and problem solving, seeks help promptly as necessary
  • Time management skills
  • Skilled in presenting information or ideas concisely, accurately, and clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in communication with a focus on listening and influencing skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reading, writing, talking, use of computer.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication via telephone systems, and person – to –person.
  • Clear concise speaking ability to provide information and instruction.
  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Manual and tactile dexterity for use of computer keyboard/typing, writing, handling/ sorting objects and forms.
  • Flexibility and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, standing, reaching, sitting.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job with assistive or adaptive devices or reasonable accommodations.

Work Environment:

  • Office work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
  • Facility work is in a processing environment (hot/cold/noisy) and requires the ability to move freely throughout the production floor.
  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
  • Duties subject to stressful pressures and deadlines.
