Job Overview

The primary responsibility of the Quality Assurance Technician is to ensure compliance with Company food safety and quality standards for raw materials, processed products, and processing procedures are maintained under minimal supervision. Responsible for laboratory, online testing and evaluations to assist the production process. Must understand customer specifications and ensure in-process testing as well as finished product meets all quality parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Pre-op inspections upon starting back up facility after shutdowns.
  • Monitor lines as far as; verification of temperature monitoring, validating all GMP’s are being followed.
  • Document all data in the iPad and ensure all checks are being completed to ensure product integrity.
  • Communicate with operations to be sure we are producing product in spec.
  • Assist in the execution of internal audits
  • Provide technical assistance to operations regarding process deviation reports and product specifications.
  • Retain product and investigate to determine disposition under the guidance of Management.
  • Monitor product and process quality & compliance
  • Monitor package/bag weights.
  • Check weight of 4 bags per hour or as needed.
  • Check metal detector and x-ray hourly
  • Monitor finished product hourly and test taste samples every hour
  • Check temperature of cased products hourly
  • Check scale tare and scale calibration once per shift
  • Perform leaker test every hour
  • Pull bacteria and retention sample every hour and send to QA and microlab for testing
  • Communicate with line operators and line supervisors when products or equipment do not meet the target quality requirements.
  • Communicate deficiencies and opportunities to Quality Assurance and Operations Management
  • Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality and promote GMP guidelines.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must have basic computer/tablet skills, be able to read a thermometer, and read and understand required specifications.
  • Read, write and understand English.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required to work quickly and repetitively to keep up with the flow of production.
  • On the job training for each task.
  • Ability to read, write and understand basic English.
  • Complete basic math problems

      

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop for 10+ hours.
  • Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 60lbs.
  • Ability to wear PPE equipment for 10+ hours (i.e., Hard hat, hair/beard net & hearing protection)
  • Ability to adhere to GMP policies when entering the production areas.

Work Enviornment: 

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to hot, wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
  • Work in hot indoor environment for 10+ hours
  • Ability to work alone well and with others.
  • Dexterity for touching and handling small objects.
  • Loud environment due to machinery – Hearing protection required
