Job Overview

The Maintenance Lead will utilize specialized skill sets to support the maintenance and optimal operating condition of a variety of equipment using company approved food safety practices and policies. Train other maintenance mechanics to increase skill level in the department when applicable. Decrease equipment downtime utilizing training and skills. Diagnose malfunctions in production machinery and equipment. Install, repair and maintains machinery and equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and electrical systems, in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications. 

 

2nd Shift: 5PM - 5:30AM

Responsibilities

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instrument
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Using specialized skill sets, performs corrective maintenance and emergency maintenance on food packaging/processing equipment and facility equipment to maximize equipment up-time.
  • Completion of assigned scheduled preventative maintenance and work orders assigned to increase asset life.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports documenting the activities and work performed by the maintenance department. Includes all equipment repairs from breakdowns, work orders or scheduled preventative maintenance. Assist in maintaining the maintenance office and departmental records.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced equipment mechanical/electrical issues within specialized skill sets.
  • Repair and/or rebuild pumps, mills, gearboxes and other miscellaneous mechanical entities.
  • Assist/direct other maintenance mechanics in troubleshooting advanced equipment problems using specialized skill sets. Train other maintenance mechanics with up to date information to increase skill level within department. Effectively document who, what, why and when the training takes place.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in advanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills and/or specialized training.
  • Read and Write English.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical information in mathematical and/or narrative form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Bi-Lingual a positive but not required.
