Job Overview

The role of the Cost Accountant will be to take ownership of the day-to-day management of assigned sites accounting operations and will work with the Controller to prepare financial reports and projections to aid key stakeholders to deliver financial outcomes that align with our objectives and growth plan.

Responsibilities

Duties and Essential Job Functions

  • Record various general ledger entries for period end and year end closing; Balance all asset and accrual accounts and monitor proper coding of all expense accounts for each period
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all period financial analytics.
  • Manage Inventory Accounting processes by monitoring shop floor production reports.
  • Compile daily and weekly operational yield and labor efficiencies and partner with the Plant Controller) to deliver operational improvements.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset; provide period reporting and insure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
  • Maintain and update the charts of accounts, ensuring improved reporting structure that facilitates budget monitoring and enables meaningful budgetary, period closing and other reporting.Oversee the promotional spending activities, measure the benefit, and audit the amount spent.
  • Work with the controller to develop new and improve existing reporting capabilities.
  • Assist the Controller in performing cost accounting and financial analyses, enabling the Controller to effectively manage the organization’s financial assets, including fat claims.
  • Coordinates with AP/AR/Billing/Collections to ensure all financial and accounting transactions are processed to established standards and completed within targeted deadlines

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a Bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in Accounting is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience is required.
  • Experience in Cost/Manufacturing Accounting is preferred.
  • Experience in Macola System a big plus.
  • Experience with major ERP system implementations preferred.
  • Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
  • Must be highly skilled in use of Excel spreadsheets (Familiarity with “VLookUps” and creation and use of Pivot Tables).
  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, and meet important deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills with a desire and proven ability to communicate with people at all financial knowledge levels.
  • Outstanding business/entrepreneurial acumen, balancing company objectives with day-to-day financial excellence.
  • This position will have succession planning built in. 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reading, writing, talking, use of computer.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication via telephone systems, and person – to –person.
  • Clear concise speaking ability to provide information and instruction.
  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Manual and tactile dexterity for palpation, use of computer keyboard/typing, writing, handling/ sorting objects and forms.
  • Flexibility and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, standing, reaching, lifting and moving objects and equipment (approximately 25lbs. or more with assistance), sitting.
  • Able to meet physical demands of the job with assistive or adaptive devices or reasonable accommodations.
