Job Overview

The Distributor Opco Director of Sales position is responsible for account maintenance and growth with current customers as well as prospecting for new business that meets CTI’s objectives. They will be responsible for training brokers and developing sales plans based on overall company goals for growth and profitability. The Distributor Opco Director of Sales reports to the HQ Director of Sales and will have assigned distributor accounts as well as co-manufacturers accounts.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute growth strategies across existing accounts, including expansion into new and currently unsold product lines.
  2. Manage and train broker partners on CTI’s full product portfolio to drive distribution and sales performance.
  3. Represent CTI at major customer food shows and industry trade shows, maximizing customer engagement and business development opportunities.
  4. Maintain deep industry knowledge through ongoing participation in educational programs, networking events, customer trainings, and trade shows.
  5. Conduct thorough research on prospects, customers, and projects to inform strategic selling approaches and win new business.
  6. Ensure accurate and timely communication of customer requirements to internal teams, including Project Management, R&D, FSQ, Pricing, Planning, and Production.
  7. Leverage market trends, competitive insights, and industry intelligence to position CTI for customer success and optimized profitability.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we need from you:

  • 5+ years of experience in sales account management of Industrial/Manufacturing customers, Buying groups, National Accounts (high level of experience required), Distributors, Convenience, and/or Club store segments.
  • Willing to travel extensively throughout that region as well as nationally.
  • Experienced in prospecting and winning new business that meets our goals in terms of minimum volume, core capabilities, and profitability.
  • Experienced selling solutions within a business-to-business market and a track record of effectively creating a robust pipeline of marginable and profitable sales.
  • Experienced in the protein industry with an in-depth understanding of custom product proposals with long sales cycles.
  • Experienced working directly with product developers and innovators within their company and at the customers; experience selling cooked protein and kettle foods a plus.
  • A background working in a matrixed environment where creative thinking, relationship building, building consensus and open communications are important.
  • An understanding of customized food manufacturing including some acumen in safely, regulatory, quality and supply chain; reasonably comfortable with process and capabilities both in scale-up and batch production.
  • An energetic entrepreneur with mental agility, thoughtful personality, and strong executive presence.
  • An open-minded professional with leadership skills, persuasiveness, and the ability to articulate well, both verbally and in writing. Able to bring consensus to any negotiating environment.
  • Maturity, self-motivation, and a "can do" attitude, able to succeed both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to collaborate and partner with other company functions such as FSQ, pricing, production, and customer service.
  • A performance-driven mentality; one who brings solutions to challenges.
  • High moral and ethical standards; strong character, principles, and discipline; unquestionable personal and professional integrity.
  • Assertiveness, with strong self-esteem and self-confidence, balanced with a sensitivity toward and concern for people.
  • Strong leadership skills including vision and strategy, building consensus, communications, total quality commitment, ownership, accountability, and results orientation.
  • Travel approx. 3 days per week or more as needed.
